art has never been optional." Lilian Boyd is a NYC-based theatre artist specializing in directing, playwriting, and performing. Born and raised in Southern California then moving to New York to attended Marymount Manhattan College, graduating with a BA in Theater Arts in 2020, she has combined her west - to - east coast perspective with a love of all things horrific and beautiful to craft theatre that deals with isolation and longing through unconventional lenses. She is a trained special effects makeup artist, and has studied puppetry, photography, film, and a variety of movement based acting and directing styles. The Lucky Rat Artist CollectiveConceptualized in January 2020 and opened to the public officially six months later, The Lucky Rat Artist Collective is the brain child of Co - Founders and Presidents Lilian Boyd and Skylar Beirne. By creating a network of like minded artists with a taste for unconventional theatre, they hope to utilize this collective community to produce and promote theatrical art that exists in the non theatrical space. They are currently working on a multitude of community oriented yet social distanced events, such as the First Friday Virtual Flea Market, a multi medium virtual art share with an interactive artists market and music immersion, a website based play share for emerging artists, and a digital new works theatre festival, Adaptation.
Excerpt from The Lucky Rat Artist Collective Mission Statement (6/17/20): "The Lucky Rat Artist Collective is a gathering of like-minded professional theatre artists dedicated to creation of unconventional work in unconventional spaces in New York City. We are a patchwork group with a multitude of professions, perspectives, and personalities, seeking to implement community focused and driven works of art across a multitude of mediums. We strive to foster an environment of artistic support for our members, as well as friends of the collective and the NYC community as a whole, and are committed to racial equity and diverse storytelling." |
